You can use the url shortening service bit.ly to share files too.  bit.ly introduced this feature in association with yfrog.

1. Go to the bit.ly web site

2. click on the link to a file link

3. Choose the file to upload and click shorten (File types: jpg, png, gif, bmp, tiff, swf, flv, pdf, mp4, mov, avi.)

4. You will get the bit.ly shortened link to the yfrog page.
