It is very easy to spam the Google calendar. Just add an event to your Google calendar and invite others by adding to guest list.

This event will be shown in their Google calendar and will send the reminder also to them.

To avoid this go to settings of your Google calendar

change "Automatically add invitations to my calendar:" to "No, only show invitations to which I have responded" from "Yes"
