Winamp to Be Discontinued

 Winamp to Be Discontinued and microsoft want to buy it

We had some time when we think about a MP3 player the first name come into mind was Winamp. Winamp officially announced that it will discontinue the service from December 20, 2013. The final update on Winamp  is released yesterday. Winamp have more than 25 million registered users as on 2000

Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download. Please download the latest version before that date. See release notes for latest improvements to this last release.
Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years.

Winamp was initially developed by NullSoft while in 1999 AOL purchased it.

There are unofficial news that Microsoft  wants to buy Winamp and save it.

After  the announcement there is a petition which is already signed my more than 6,000 users as of now to make the Winamp open source. you can read the petition here
